TRAUMZ (2021)
by Aluta Null
'TRAUMZ' is an augmented reality effect orignally published on Meta. In this deeply symbolic interactive artwork, the user is placed in empty white space. The user's body vanishes, leaving just their head floating with flashing red text hovering above. Using a face-tracker, the effect replaces the user's eyes and mouth with visual noise, symbolizing distorted senses where one would see and speak.
'TRAUMZ' likens humans to machines grappling with data overload. The effect reflects the struggles of processing trauma — both mental and emotional. I created this effect as an artistic and interactive way of showcasing my view on how memory and pain can cloud and complicate our perceptions, making things difficult to process.
