RUN ME MY MONEY is an extended reality collection of work that features one non-immersive VR experience (showcased as a video), and three AR pieces. The VR creation (and video) serve as an archive for conversations related to Black women demanding what they are owed - demanding their rights to access and ownership of their bodies and sexuality. This simulation features videos that are made by or present the voices of Kelly Stamps, Candice Chirwa, Linda Vilakazi, Junglepussy, Roxane Gay, HeyParis, and Britteney "Black Rose” Kapri.
Set in an underground club, RUN ME MY MONEY follows an unseen Aluta Null exploring the space and carrying with them an attitude of irreverence and cheek. The accompanying AR pieces (LADIES FREE, FUCK YOU PAY ME, and I DON’T LIKE YOUR GAZE, SIR) are all designed as punk party posters, which portray the same sentiments. Both club culture and the underground/independent world represent rebellion, freedom, and uncensored voices. The superficial glitch effects featured in RUN ME MY MONEY communicate the idea that many of these wishes are not fully in existence here but are “loading” in the near future.
RUN ME MY MONEY was created with the support and commissioning of WOM{B}_ANIFESTO and is Aluta Null’s debut project under the alias Aluta Null.
